Texas Orthopedics - Dr. Benjamin McArthur - Orthopedic Surgeon - Hip Replacement - Knee Replacement - Orthopedic Doctor - Orthopedist - Pediatric Orthopedic - Orthopedic in Austin and Kyle, TX

Meet Doctor Benjamin A. McArthur, MD

Orthopedic Surgeon

Joint Preservation, Hip & Knee Reconstruction

At Texas Orthopedics, Dr. Benjamin McArthur’s philosophy of care stems from his belief in holistic medicine. As a physician, he believes his job is as much to educate the patient about his or her condition as it is to treat it.

Dr. McArthur will take the time with each patient to gain a clear understanding of their symptoms as well as the effect of those symptoms on the patient. His goal with any patient is to first rule out all other alternatives before resorting to surgical options. If lesser interventions are successful in providing adequate relief, then Dr. McArthur believes that there is no need to undergo the stress of surgery.

If surgery is the best treatment, Dr. McArthur will educate the patient about the risks and benefits, as well as alternatives to surgery so that he or she can make an educated decision about their medical care. If surgery is chosen, Dr. McArthur has the technical skills necessary to perform the operation with the least possible trauma.

Dr. McArthur earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 2008. He then performed his orthopedic residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City where he excelled in clinical practice and academic research and was awarded multiple research grants, as well as the prestigious Lewis Clarke Wagner Resident Research Award. In 2014, Dr. McArthur completed a fellowship in adult lower extremity reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. McArthur has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and has presented both nationally and internationally on topics related to hip and knee replacement. He is a reviewer of current research for The Bone & Joint Journal, The Journal of Arthroplasty, and the American Journal of Orthopedics, for which he serves on the editorial review board.

Dr. McArthur’s areas of interest include young adult hip and hip preservation as well as computer-assisted surgical techniques. He is a candidate member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. McArthur is an active member of the teaching faculty of Dell Medical School's Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program where he is working to advance the field of musculoskeletal care and training the next generation of physicians and surgeons. To learn more, please click here.
